Why Buy from a Tree Farm? (Instead of a Lot) Prior to the 1950s, most family Christmas trees came from the forest; today over 98% are plantation grown. Most Christmas trees begin life in a nursery where superior seed is planted and grown to two-year-old seedlings. Most seedlings are then taken from the nursery beds and replanted in Christmas tree farms for their final years of development. Because of the care required, tree farmers make it a priority to prune, mow and make their trees superior to the rest. We at Cornerstone Plantation feel we have accomplished that task - and want you to be the judge! Choose and cut farms offer a delightful opportunity for people to renew the tradition of going out into the forest, selecting and cutting the family Christmas tree.
Tree farms offer far superior trees to those found in lots. On average, trees
sold in lots or in retail stores are weeks old - which leads to a tree that sheads
the needles much quicker. At the farm you will find the same vareity
of trees. (Where do you think the trees in the lots come
from?) You will also find the cost is comparable if not cheaper at the farm! We
at Cornerstone Plantation offer our trees, on average, $10 less than found
at the local lots - and you are guarenteed a fresh tree. This is
one instance where paying more does not get your more.
